Give Yourself Grace

When it comes to loving yourself, it’s a lot more difficult than you’d think it’d be. Heck, it’s a lot more difficult than it should be.

I am more of the ‘tough love’ kind of person. I care deeply about other people, so much so that I won’t let them wallow. I refuse to stand by while people don’t live up to their potential. I share a lot of strategies and hold people accountable to those strategies. I have the same expectations for myself.

However I realized, while I was on my own journey, that just plowing through without taking time to appreciate the journey I’m on wasn’t helpful. I had the strategies, I had the know how, I had the skills. But I forgot the most important piece of it all:

Grace.

Giving yourself grace isn’t just something fun to say and put on your Pinterest board or the lock screen of your phone. Grace is required.

Here’s the deal: you’re human.

Because you’re human, you’re not perfect. Because you’re human, you’re going to slip up. You’re not going to get it right every second of every day. You may not progress as fast as you’d like to.

And that’s ok.

You are human. No one is expecting perfection from you – it’s time you stop expecting it from yourself.

With personal development and your self love journey, this is especially important.

You’re digging deep. There are going to be things that come up that you didn’t even realize were there. You’re going to feel like you’re doing 10 steps forward and 8 steps back. All you see is the 8 steps back, but you don’t see that it’s still progress.

It’s time to give yourself the grace you deserve.

You’re embarking on a journey that isn’t easy. You’re going to fall and screw up and feel like you’re going backwards.

Give yourself grace.

Be patient with yourself. Be understanding.

Accept that messing up doesn’t mean you’ve failed. It’s just a lesson you’ve learned. Maybe it was a lesson you needed to learn to move forward.

If you sit in that and only focus on the mess up, you’ll miss the lesson.

This journey isn’t easy, but it’s important.

Give yourself grace.

You’re doing amazing things – acknowledge that. Accept all of the great things you’ve done and will do.

Nobody got to where they wanted to go without messing up. But the ones that succeed are the ones that kept going despite the mess ups.

So boo – get out there. Get at it. Go after your best life. See your self worth. And give yourself massive servings of grace every single day.

You’ve got this. I’m cheering you on.
