Step by Step
I didn’t realize how my lack of confidence was rubbing off on my child
Axel was talking so negatively about himself and actually believed it
I realized that even though I was struggling, I didn’t want to pass my struggle onto him
The more life goes on the more I see the importance of setting a good, confident example, especially in the world we live in.
So today’s episode is going to be all about cultivating confidence in kids!
Even if you’re not a momma, this is a good episode to listen to.
If you’re ever around kids at all, this will give you a good starting point to be a good, confident example in their life. You’ll be a person that they can’t help but love themselves when they’re around. And that’s powerful.
Step 1 – Set the example
Positive self talk
Cut the negative self talk
Talk about and celebrate your victories
Celebrate your victories WITH your kids
Step 2 – Teach them about positive self talk and affirmations
Kids don’t care about the reasons why, so don’t over complicate it.
Start with kid friendly affirmations.
The ones my son says every day are:
I am strong.
I am smart.
I am capable.
I am worthy.
I am enough.
When Axel gets stuck or down on himself. I pull him aside, guide him through some deep breaths and he says these affirmations.
I’ve seen such a drastic change in him since doing this.
Step 3 – don’t let them talk badly about themselves
If they call themselves stupid, remind them that they’re not.
Step 4 – Celebrate their victories and teach them to celebrate themselves
Step 5 – Rinse and repeat
Raising confident kids is so important, especially when we live in a world that constantly knocks them down and tells them that they’re not enough.
Even if your kids are older, it’s not too late to start this.
Make it part of your routine.
But remember – it starts with you setting the example.
